WA #1000 Vitrified Bond— White Alumina Medium Whetstone

A professional medium-grit whetstone made with WA (White Alumina) abrasive, designed for controlled and consistent sharpening.

While the GC #320 is suited to heavier material removal and geometry correction, and the WA #600 bridges coarse sharpening and refinement, the WA #1000 is the essential stage for establishing a clean, precise cutting edge.

Its balanced cutting action efficiently refines the scratches left by coarser stones while providing good control and feedback during sharpening. It can also be used as a practical starting stone for regular maintenance when major thinning or repair is not required.

  • WA (White Alumina) abrasive
  • #1000 medium grit
  • Size: 215 x 80 x 30mm
  • Weight: 1,078g
  • Balanced cutting ability and control
  • Refines scratches from #600 and other coarse stones
  • Ideal for establishing a clean, precise edge
  • Suitable as a starting stone for regular sharpening
  • Excellent preparation before progressing to finer finishing stones

How to Use a Vitrified Bond Whetstone.

  1. Soak the whetstone in clean water before use.
  2. Once sufficiently saturated, remove it from the water and begin sharpening.
  3. Keep the surface wet by adding water as needed during use.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with clean water after sharpening.
  5. Allow the stone to dry naturally in a shaded, well-ventilated area.

Caution: Do not use hot water or dry the stone rapidly with direct sunlight, heaters, or other heat sources, as this may cause cracking or damage.
